Charles Mitchell Vineyards has their vineyards located in the heart of the Sierra Foothills, in a region called as Fair Play. It was named for the local township in the Gold Rush era. Over 150 years ago, this region was a thriving wine producing area and supplied the Italian’s. Their property has had a fantastic history as a promising repository for gold, then as a homestead and orchard by the turn of the century. It allowed many generations of families, the opportunity to live in this abundant land. In the mid 1960's, UC Davis, recognized the land's possibilities and developed a test plot of potential varietals to revitalize the Fair Play region as a premier grape growing region. Charles Mitchell Vineyards has produced many award-winning wines over the years. It offers Winemaker tours, tasting and sales of over thirty styles of wines. A visit to this winery in Fair Play, California can be an adventure. It held twenty estate grown and imported negociant wines, barrel tasting, futures sales, and wine club events. Charles Mitchell Vineyards provides various types of white wines like Madame and Omo's Pure Sunshine. It is an inspiration from Monsieur Omo's Red Sunshine in 2005. These wines have a distinctive pear blossom nose and are light and crisp. Charles Mitchell Vineyards Red wines include the Monsieur, Omo's Red Sunshine that is an inspiration for Beaujolais and Chianti. It was made to be enjoyed and not to be collected. It is multi medal wine for a cheap price. Their winemaking is a dynamic process where diversity is created by tailoring vinification and cellar practices to the individual vineyard lots. Nevertheless, there is a crucial process that defines their idealistic approach and establishes a reference for maneuvers exclusively suited to each fermentation lot.
