Dutton Goldfield
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco. California is also the home of and wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country. Warren Dutton, Steve's father, foresaw the super premium potential of this area, and first planted grapes in the year 1964. Dutton Ranch, which is now included of over 60 small, exclusive vineyard sites throughout the area, has a wide status for leadership in viticulture in this region. They were also among the first to champion Pinot Noir in a region where, less than a decade ago, most of the fruit went completely for sparkling wine. Always in search of opportunities to push the limits, the newest Dutton plantings are in the spectacular freestone and occidental areas. The wine leads with its characteristic wild, brambly blackberry and woodsy aromas, complemented by violets, plum and black cherry. 2004 Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir was a year with good set but low productivity due to the poor 2003 bud development, so a low crop year. The cool summer was followed by a heat spike in late August, and another lasting all through September, with fruit coming in a tidal wave like in no way before The 2004 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay wine is mainly lush, while still displaying the focused lime and tangerine notes that they expect from Dutton Ranch Chardonnay. Their mission is to craft world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that exhibit the brightness of fruit, structure, complexity and balance that are reflective of their cool coastal home in and around the Russian River Valley. Dutton Goldfield are one of the best in the wine business and are aware that quality is not accidental but by high intention and perseverance and are devoted to follow it on any backgrounds.
