Gundlach Bundschu
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco. California is also the home of and wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country. Gundlach-Bundschu Winery is a family-owned, sixth-generation producer of unique estate-grown and bottled Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet-family varietals on the southern border of the Sonoma Valley in California. They advance their vineyards, their wines and the world with spirit and open-minds, an outlook that pervades their entire winery organization.
At Rhinefarm estate, they use their natural resources to produce wines that are reflective of the vintage and their 140 year old vineyards with four classic varietals at the core of their production that include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their terroir is exclusive in its ability to produce this range of varieties with equal grace, and a synthesis of Old World winemaking methods and California initiative results in wines that are significant and real.
For Cabernet Sauvignon, harvest is performed in the early morning hours to keep temperatures small. Grapes are gently destemmed and crushed and the must is sent to 15 ton tanks for primary fermentation. Fermentation of each lot is conducted individually and each is aged separately until final blending. The wines are pumped over twice daily with gentle sprinklers and tasted daily to observe tannin resolution and wine expansion. Gundlach-Bundschu Winery are one of the best in the wine business and are aware that quality is not accidental but by high intention and perseverance and are devoted to follow it on any backgrounds.
