Hartford Family Winery
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's admiration for the wines, the people, and the exclusive vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Situated in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast. They make wines under two marks named Hartford Court and Hartford.
Hartford Court bottlings are small lots of high-personality single vineyard Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays that express the distinctive qualities inherent in each vineyard's terroir - the interplay of soil, slope, exposure and climate. Hartford wines are old-vine Zinfandels from the Russian River Valley and Anderson Valley appellations. In the fall of 2006 they introduced a new Pinot Noir and a new Chardonnay under the Hartford Court label that are blends of fruit from Estate and growers' vineyards.
Their high personality wines include single-vineyard and limited bottlings for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Old-Vine Zinfandel. Exclusively expressive, the vineyard sites chosen for Hartford Family Winery are situated in some of the coolest areas of the Russian River Valley, Marin, Sonoma Coast, Anderson Valley and Carneros appellations.
Some of their vineyards are Arrendell Vineyard, Dina's Vineyard, Fanucchi Wood Road Vineyard, Hartford Vineyard, Highwire Vineyard, Seascape Vineyard, Seven's Bench Vineyard, Stone Cote Vineyard, Three Jacks Vineyard and Velvet Sisters Vineyard. Their events include Barrel Tasting Weekend, Winter Wine Land, Hand Picking and Sorting, Winemaking to Show Vineyard Character, Destemmed, Cold Soaking, Open Top Fermentation, Not Crushed, Native and Cultured Yeasts, French Oak, Minimal Handling, Chardonnay, Unfined and Unfiltered.
