Joseph Swan Winery
Joseph Swan Winery is a small family owned winery located in the heart of Sonoma County, California's famed Russian River Valley. Although they are specialized in vineyard designated pinot noir and old vine Zinfandel, they also produce small lots of other wines including Rhone style wine, pinot gris and chardonnay. In 1967 Joe Swan purchased a small farm on Laguna Road near the town of Forestville in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County. The property consisted of 13 acres of old Zinfandel vines, fruit trees and pasture along with several structures including an old barn and a nearly 100-year-old house.
After a meal, elegant sweet wines are the perfect ending and Joseph Swan Winery offers several award winning wines, including Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Sonoma Zinfandel, Lone Redwood Ranch Zinfandel, Frati Ranch Zinfandel, Cabernet Savignon and Pinot Gris. These award-winning wines are produced in Trenton Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir, Saralee's Vineyard, Sonoma County, Stellwagen Vineyard, Sonoma Valley, and Trenton Estate Vineyard.
Pinot Noir produced in Saralee's Vineyard is a blend of 6 different clones of pinot noir, it shows not only the character of the vineyard, bright red fruit, floral perfume, good structure and acidity and a generally pretty character, but the nature of the vintage as well that is lush, forward fruit due to the burst of heat just prior to harvest.
Mancini Ranch, they are lighter in alcohol than some prior years, the fruit in both is typical of the vineyards, with the Lone Redwood showing more pure berry, the Mancini showing a bit of pepper as well.
Sonoma County Zinfandel made in the Sonoma county. In the mouth it is equally rich but shows little of the impression of sweetness. The aromas are of bright black berry fruit tinged with cherry and a hint of pepper. It is medium bodied but quite rich, with bright acidity and very little tannin.
Winemaking at Joseph Swan Winery in California is a dynamic process where diversity is created by tailoring vinification and cellar practices to the individual vineyard lots. Joseph Swan Winery’s goal is to extract and retain all of the color and flavor that is delivered in the grapes with quality taste that soothes the mind.
