Picchetti Winery
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco. California is also the home of and wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country.
Picchetti Winery has rich historical roots dating back to the late 1800’s making Picchetti one of the oldest wineries in California. The winery complex is listed both on the National Registry of Historical Places and the Santa Clara County Heritage Resource Inventory. The Picchetti Winery and Winery grounds are a private business that operates under a cooperative lease with the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. Picchetti Winery produce wines such as Prosecco, Cabernet Sauvignon, Quarry Hill, Mattie Rose, Chardonnay, Santa Cruz Mountains, Viognier, Vista Verde Vineyards, Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mountains, Pinot Noir, Truchard Vineyards, Merlot and Dorcich Vineyard Santa Clara Valley.
Rose a silver award winning wine among the different types of wines is produced from a fruit which is harvested from a local Syrah grower. This beautifully colored wine is a refreshing accompaniment to a Tuscan picnic, Barbequed chicken or Plank-roasted salmon. The soft floral textures characterize this wine with hints of strawberry, dry yet full of flavor. Secondly, Merlot again a silver award winning is from the Dorcich Vineyards in San Martin, California. It has emerged beautifully from the ripe raspberry and red fruit flavors from the glass along with a hint of clove and white pepper. This is a luscious, smooth wine, with a big mouth feel and powerful yet balanced tannins. It was aged for 16 months in 35 percent new oak.
Today the Picchetti Winery produces approximately 9000 cases of hand crafted wine a year. Drawing from a multitude of vineyards that include 3 acres of over 110 year old Zinfandel vines, Leslie’s Estate Chardonnay and Estate Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard on Montebello Road as well as other commercial vineyards located throughout the state. The goal of Picchetti Winery winemaking program is to create wines of uncompromising quality with optimum flavor and aromatic components that reflect the unique characteristics of the vineyards from which they come.
