Preston Vineyards
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California's landscape is as diverse as its people. From foggy coastlines to dry endless deserts, lush green mountains to rolling hills of vineyards. A morning of snow boarding in the mountains and then ocean kayaking at sunset, this glorious Golden State offers it all. Preston Vineyards, farm and winery, a tasty and nostalgic corner of Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley, has been a part of the local wine scene for 30 years, and have adopted their own special style of winemaking and living that respect the traditions of their forebears and the rhythms of the seasons. At Preston, they subscribe to organic farming and minimalist winemaking, preferring purity of flavor and product while sustaining the environment. Preston Vineyards produce wine such as Lpreston, Syrahsirah, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc, Barbera, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Carignane, Rousanne, Viognier, Vin Gris, Madane Preston. Preston wines have always featured blending as a creative expression. A salute to the field blends of earlier times, blending also achieves balance and breadth of flavor by the combination of different estate-grown grapes from a singular terroir. Sauvignon Blanc has long been their signature white chosen for its appropriateness to their climate and soils and the innate grassy character of the varietal coaxed and preserved by minimal processing in the cellar. Cinsault is incredibly fruity and jammy-ripe, it finishes with a subtle complexity. Shy-bearing and miserly in its harvest, they first satisfy their need for this grape in blends, like the proprietary L. Preston or Guadagni Jug. Vin Gris is their Rhone-style rose made from fully ripened Cinsault and Mourvedre. It takes its inspiration from the refreshing salmon-colored wines of France's Bandol region, and is produced by the traditional bleeding off of juice from red fermenters, followed by barrel fermentation. The wine has exotic orange-cream, peach and watermelon flavors and is completely dry. Membership in includes invitations to exclusive events and complimentary tasting at the winery. There are many wonderful famous as well as some not so well known areas in California Wine Country that are just right for an enjoyable day of wine tasting. It’s always best to get off the beaten track and find the other gold that still exists and enjoy the beautiful scenery along these wine trails in this beautiful State.
