Sunce Winery
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco. California is also the home of and wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country. Sunce Winery was founded by Winemaker Frane Franicevic in 1991. A native of the Croatian island of Hvar, and the small fishing village of Sucuraj, Frane was born into a family with a centuries old winemaking tradition. The current label of Sunce Winery’s Franicevic Series of reserve Burgundy and Bourdeaux-style wines features an oil painting of Frane’s great-grandfather porting barrels of family estate wine to the mainland across the straits of the Adriatic Sea. Sunce produces small lots of single-vineyard varietal wines from some of the best vineyards of Sonoma County and the North Coast. Sunce's Winery focus upon single vineyard designates allows the particular personality and terroir of each vineyard to find its greatest expression. Among the most successful, award-winning varietal wines are the Rodella Pinot Noir, the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Hedin Vineyard, the Baker Zinfandel, the La Rochelle Sauvignon Blanc, the Strycker Cabernet Sauvignon, the Saint Olof’s Barbera, and a dazzling Mailbec also from Saint Olof’s Vineyard.
The goal of Sunce Winery‘s winemaking program is to create wines of uncompromising quality with optimum flavor and aromatic components that reflect the unique characteristics of the vineyards from which they come.
