Taft St. Winery
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is also the home of wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country.
In the 1970s, student John Tierney began making wine in the garage of his brother's home on nearby Taft Street. The reputation of the Taft Street Garage wines grew and his family and friends formally opened Taft Street Winery on April Fool's Day, 1982, in the Russian River Valley town of Forestville. The wines of Taft Street have won innumerable awards throughout the years, and the name Taft Street has long been associated with consistent quality. Today Taft Street focuses on making wines from the neighboring vineyards in the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations. Wines are also produced from vineyards in nearby Dry Creek Valley and Alexander Valley. The formula has remained the same throughout the years.
Their wine production include wines like Sauvignon Blanc, that has a nice intensity of fig and citrus with a real zippiness to it. This is a wonderful warm weather wine, and not so bad on a cool day. Merlot wine is medium red in color. There are forward fruity flavors of rich spice and berry with a balanced backdrop of oak. The wine finishes smoothly on the palate and the aftertaste is long and silky. Syrah has a concentrated range of pepper, spice and black current. The tannins are firm and chewy and are balanced with an appropriate acidity. The culmination is a polished and supple finish. Cobblestone Vineyards Zinfandel this mouthful of fruit is well integrated with fine tannins and wood shadings. Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir St Jude Acre has deep red and purple color. It accompanies a distinctively varietal nose, mouth filling flavors of cherry and blackberry are underscored with a hint of oak.
Taft St winery’s goal is to extract and retain all of the color and flavor that is delivered in the grapes with quality taste that soothes the mind. It is one of the famous wineries in California that has grown through years of excellence and quality of the wines offered.
