Adelanto
California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of north America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia. Adelanto is a city in San Bernardino County in California about 9 miles to northwest of Victorville. The population was 24,360 according to 2005 census. The name Adelanto is Spanish name for progress or advance and was first given to the post office that was established on the site in 1917. According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 138.7 square kilometers of which 138.6 square kilometers is land and 0.1 square kilometers is water. Adelanto was founded in 1915 by E. H. Richardson who had sold his patent and purchased the land. It was his planning that laid the foundation for what is currently the city of Adelanto. The population was spread out with 38.0 percent under the age of 18, 9.1 percent from 18 to 24, 35.2 percent from 25 to 44, 12.6 percent from 45 to 64 and 5.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 27 years. For every 100 females there were 115.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 123.0 males. The city has favorable climatic conditions. The cool prevailing winds from the southwest provide nearly a smog free environment throughout the year. The average temperatures range from a minimum of 30 F in January to a maximum of 96 F in August. The city has undergone some improvement in various fields and enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers. It provides endless recreational opportunities for visitors and locals. It also offers smooth sea breezes and endless blue skies all the year round supported with plentiful shopping, museums and beautiful beaches. This place is regarded as a premier vacation destination and rated as top vacation spots in California. Hence it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over.
