Agoura Hills
California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of north America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia. Agoura Hills is a city in Los Angeles County in California and was incorporated in the year 1982. The population was 20,537 at the 2000 census. The area was first settled by the Chumash Indians and later by Spanish Franciscan missionaries. The community was initially known as Picture city. On 8 December 1982, most of the city split off from the unincorporated town of Agoura and became the city of Agoura Hills. It was called the gateway to the Santa Monica mountains national recreation area. The city is unofficially divided into a number of varied districts centered around the modern downtown area of the city. The most notable of the districts included Downtown, Forest Cove, South End, Whizin's Row, East Agoura and Old Agoura. The city is in the fertile crescent of alt or rap metal music giving rise to bands Hoobastank and Linkin park. In the city the population was spread out with 30.5 percent under the age of 18, 6.3 percent from 18 to 24, 27.6 percent from 25 to 44, 29.4 percent from 45 to 64 and 6.2 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males. The city is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of California, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. The city has undergone some improvement in various fields and enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
