Antioch
California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia. Antioch is a city in Contra Costa County, California in United States. The population was 90,532 at the 2000 census. According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 71.4 square kilometers of which 69.8 square kilometers of it is land and 1.6 square kilometers is water. There were 30,116 housing units at an average density of 431.5 per square kilometers. The population was spread out with 32.3 percent under the age of 18, 8.2 percent from 18 to 24, 32.4 percent from 25 to 44, 19.8 percent from 45 to 64 and 7.4 percent who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 96.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.0 males. Antioch is served by the Antioch Pittsburg Amtrak station. Tri Delta transit is the predominant provider of public transportation in the Antioch area. At present, it is mainly a bedroom community, with most adults working in larger cities toward Oakland and San Francisco. The town has seen an enormous amount of growth in the last 30 years, as the population of the Bay area continues to grow and real estate prices force families to move towards the outskirts of the Bay Area. The residents of this city live in an area surrounded by rivers, creeks and open space. The city is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of California, it is one of the most visited places amongst the most die hard travelers the world over. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. It has undergone some improvement in various fields and enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers. The city provides endless recreational opportunities for visitors and locals, with plentiful shopping and beautiful beaches.
