Atwater
California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia. Atwater is a city in Merced County, California, United States. The population as of August 19, 2006 is 27,972 inhabitants. According to the United States census bureau, the city has a total area of 14.0 square kilometers. 14.0 square kilometers of it is land and 0.18 percent water. The population density was 1,652.6 per square kilometers. There were 8,114 housing units at an average density of 580.2 per square kilometers. In the city the population was spread out with 34.9 percent under the age of 18, 10.0 percent from 18 to 24, 28.6 percent from 25 to 44, 17.4 percent from 45 to 64, and 9.1 percent who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.4 males. The city of Atwater is conveniently located in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Their proximity to major markets makes transportation easy for personal entertainment as well as business operations. Atwater is within one hour to the Sierra Nevada’s, Fresno, and Stockton. Atwater is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times.
