Hercules
California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia.
Hercules is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 19,488 inhabitants at the 2000 census. It is located about 20 miles northeast of San Francisco, and approximately a half-hour drive from either Oakland or San Francisco. The town was established as company housing by the California Powder Works in 1881 when it relocated its operations from San Francisco. As of late 2004 current issues include the regulation of new development the construction of a new ferry terminal to provide direct service to San Francisco, and adding a new rail stop for Amtrak Capitol Corridor services.
Hercules is also known as the city of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
