Gilroy is the southmost city in Santa Clara County, California, USA. According to the United States 2000 Census, the city population was 41,464 inhabitants. Long-time local landmarks include Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park, formerly Treehaven. The community was reportedly named for John Cameron Gilroy, one of the first area settlers of European ancestry. Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park is a non-profit horticultural-themed family theme park in Gilroy, California and is the home of the world-famous Circus Trees created by Axel Erlandson. The Park opened in June 2001 and now has 19 rides, 27 attractions and 6 gardens.
