Oakland

California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia.

Oakland was founded in 1852, is the eighth-largest city in California and the county seat of Alameda County. It lies on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, nestled against the Berkeley Hills and bordering five of the East Bay Regional Parks. To Oakland's north is Berkeley, home to the renowned University of California, Berkeley, and to its west across the Bay Bridge is San Francisco. As of the census of 2000, there were 399,484 people, 150,790 households, and 86,402 families residing in the city. The population density was 7,126.6 per square miles.

The attraction in the Oakland includes Oakland Museum of California, Chabot Space and Science Center, Paramount Theater, Chinatown, Jack London Square, Lake Merritt and Children's Fairyland.

Oakland is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in California worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of California.
