Pico Rivera is a city located in southeastern Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 63,428 inhabitants. Pico Rivera was incorporated in 1958 from the merger of the long-standing unincorporated communities of Pico and Rivera. It is situated on a rich alluvial plain between the Rio Hondo and the San Gabriel River, the area was once predominantly agricultural, but since the 1950s it has been primarily residential.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 22.9 square kilometers. As of the census of 2000, there were 63,428 people, 16,468 households, and 13,866 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,950.6 per square kilometers.
