San Bernardino
California is the most populous state of the United States. Located on the Pacific coast of North America, it is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. California is known for its pleasant climate and ethnically diverse population. The name California is most commonly believed derived from a storied paradise peopled by black Amazons and ruled by Queen Califia.
San Bernardino is the county seat of San Bernardino County, California, United States. As of 2005 the California Department of Finance estimates the population at 199,803. Currently, freeway entry signs state the population is 201,823. Some areas, particularly north of downtown, have a density beyond design capacity, including garage conversions. Although rapid residential development is transforming the city into a bedroom community, manufacturing remains a major industry in San Bernardino and the surrounding cities.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 153.5 square kilometers. As of the census of 2000, there are 185,401 people, 56,330 households, and 41,120 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,217.2 per square kilometers.
