California State Railroad Museum

The California State Railroad Museum is a place of full of historical buildings and attractions you won’t see elsewhere. Located in Old Sacramento, this museum is one of the most visited in the United States and rightly regarded as one of the finest in the nation. Lavishly restored trains, unique special events, and engaging exhibits are just some of the things you can experience at the California State Railroad Museum.

The Museum offers various exhibits and different special events throughout the year. These activities often go with the seasonal flair, and from time to time, you can encounter the magnificent Railfairs. The last fair of this kind was held in 1999 and had over 180,000 visitors to the Museum during the ten days the fair lasted. There are also exhibits of various kinds and themes, including social issues and presentations of railroad artwork aimed to attract travelers to California and the West.

In addition to all this, train rides that take you around Old Sacramento are offered every weekend in the months of April and September. This steam-powered tour is fun for the whole family, and friendly attendants are always around to answer all your questions and help you enjoy the trip.
