Valley of the Moon Winery
California, the most populous state of the United States, located on the Pacific coast of North America is bordered by Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico. The four largest cities are Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose and San Francisco. California is also the home of and wine producing regions such as Santa Barbara and Northern California's Wine Country. The land on which the Valley of the Moon Winery and Vineyards is situated has a memorable past. Once, it was part of the vast 48,000-acre Agua Caliente Land Grant owned by General Mariano Vallejo. The Parducci family continued to run Valley of the Moon Winery from the mid-1950s until March 1997 when the owners of adjacent Kenwood Vineyards purchased the business and property. Historical research revealed that Valley of the Moon Winery has operated longer than any other winery in the Glen Ellen area. The key to the success was a marvelous amount of teamwork. The owners, winemaking team, architects, engineers, builders and artisans all collaborated in an almost mysterious way to make the new Valley of the Moon Winery.
At present, the Valley of the Moon Winery and Vineyards is distinguished by the marriage of its rich history with a state of the art wine production facility. Embracing the customs of Sonoma County, one of the world's most famous wine growing areas, the creation of Valley of the Moon wine begins with hand selecting the complete highest quality fruit available from their estate vineyards and those of a few select growers in Sonoma County. Their estate vineyards are planted in the well-drained, rocky, red volcanic soil, characteristic of the southern Sonoma Valley.
The precise standards of quality control which they apply in the Valley of the Moon winemaking facilities actually originate in their estate vineyards. Valley of the moon Winery handles the grapes as softly as possible to preserve their freshness. The wines from Valley of the Moon are a significant feature at any festivity and Teresa Garcia. There are many wonderful famous as well as some not so well known areas in California Wine Country that are just right for an enjoyable day of wine tasting.
